Summer Wedding at Brittland Estate

A waterfront venue with a tented reception, need I say more? Marie and Torsen’s wedding at Brittland Estate was the perfect summer soiree. We used a romantic palette in white, toffee, quicksand, and tan with subtle hints of blue flowers including quickfire hydrangeas, toffee roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and light blue tweedia to reflect the hues of late summer on the water.

Why have a wedding night when you can have a wedding weekend? Brittland Estate is located in the historic Chestertown area of Maryland's Eastern Shore. When you rent this venue, you get access to the Manor House, pool, and gardens for the entire weekend. Most couples host their rehearsal dinners here too and the house sleeps 30, so immediate family and the bridal parties can stay on site. It’s such a fun weekend getaway!

Marie and Torsten’s color palette was cream, white, tan, and toffee with subtle hints of blue to complement her gown and the bridesmaid’s pale blue dresses. I used quickfire hydrangeas, toffee roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and light blue tweedia for her bouquet. Her bridesmaids carried petite bouquets in the same flowers and colors.

The ceremony took place at a nearby chapel, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The aisle was lined with garden meadow arrangements, creating a dreamy pathway for the couple's journey to the altar. On the altar stood lush urns overflowing with an abundance of blooming flowers and greenery, creating a focal point for the ceremony.

Next, the guests were treated to a poolside cocktail hour. We decorated the hightops with delicate bud vases and votive candles. Large floral arrangements floated in the pool, swaying in the breeze off the bay. Following the cocktail hour, guests made their way through the gardens to a regal sailcloth tent. The tent entrance was enhanced with crawling green vines and lush urn arrangements. Green vines also adorned the tent poles and chandeliers to give a whimsical and secret garden effect.

We always recommend two-three centerpiece types to create interest and draw the guests into the reception space, this wedding was no exception. The elevated arrangements on stands exuded sophistication and grandeur. Positioned atop tall, slender stands, these centerpieces boasted cascading florals and greenery. In contrast to the height of the elevated arrangements, bud vases and candles exuded an understated charm and intimacy. Small, dainty bud vases adorned the tables, each holding a single stem or a small cluster of flowers. The lush compote arrangements exuded opulence and abundance. These centerpieces were arranged in low, wide vessels, overflowing with an abundance of vibrant blooms, foliage, and textured elements. The arrangements boasted a mix of flowers in various hues and sizes, creating a lush and bountiful display.
