Romance in the rain at The Birkby House
Is it possible the rain made this day even more romantic? Not to mention, the Birkby House’s rain plan is absolutely stunning in their new addition with wall-to-wall windows and sky lights. Sam and Thomas’s palette has an homage to fall- included yellow, orange, peach, and cream with subtle wicker accents throughout.

The bridal bouquet featured locally grown yellow dahlias, mocha brown lisianthus, yellow zinnias, buttery garden roses, autumn eucalyptus, and limelight hydrangea. Bridesmaids carried wicker baskets filled with limelight hydrangea, greenery, and pops of yellow zinnias. These were so playful and a fun twist on traditional bridesmaid’s bouquets.
Following the rain plan, the backdrop for Sam and Thomas’s ceremony was a fireplace mantel floral installation. We used limelight hydrangeas, moab roses, brown amaranthus, cream and orange roses, and autumn clematis to drape over the fireplace mantel. White pillar candles and wicker candle holders were placed around the installation. Large wicker baskets filled with quickfire hydrangea and orange dahlias sat behind the last row of chairs to welcome guests into the ceremony.
In the reception, compote floral arrangements featured white dahlias, hydrangea, coral ranunculus, orange dahlias, yellow zinnias, and scabiosa pods. The centerpieces were complemented by ribbed amber votives, cut-glass votives, and taper candles. Bud vase arrangements and flower frog pins were paired with large wicker candle holders, cane candle holders, and a mix of votive candles on the long guest tables and featured yellow and cream dahlias, orange zinnias, and dill.
While the guests were at cocktail hour, we flipped the room for the reception and placed the sweet heart table for the bride and groom in front of the fireplace mantel installation for the reception. The welcome baskets, filled with hydrangea, dahlias, and greenery, were repurposed from the ceremony and placed in front of the sweetheart table, with cane candle holders and amber ribbed votives adorning the table top.
