LAUREN AND GARRETT

Playful Romance at Brittland Estate

On a warm October Saturday, Lauren and Garrett tied the knot at Brittland Estate, a stunning waterfront property overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Their wedding was effortlessly stylish – textural, laid-back, and full of personality. The celebration had a cool-girl vibe, ended with guests jumping into the pool, and embodied everything a modern, joyful wedding should be.

Lauren’s bouquet set the tone for the day: artfully asymmetrical and textural, it featured a soft palette of cream, tan, and white with dahlias, yarrow, freesia, and garden roses. Her bridesmaids carried petite posies and wore mismatched silk dresses in champagne tones, striking just the right balance of elegance and ease.

Why settle for just a wedding night when you can host an entire weekend? Brittland Estate, located in Maryland’s historic Chestertown on the Eastern Shore, offers exclusive use of its manor house, pool, and sprawling gardens for the full weekend. With room to sleep up to 30 guests, it’s the perfect place for couples to host their closest friends and family on-site, turning the wedding into a full retreat. Most couples, like Lauren and Garrett, also host their rehearsal dinner here, making it an immersive, memorable experience from start to finish.

The ceremony took place down by the water, framed by a naturalistic ground arch filled with grasses, dahlias, and yarrow, designed to look like it had grown there organically. The aisle was lined with meadow-style arrangements that added to the undone, garden-inspired aesthetic.

Guests gathered by the pool for cocktail hour before entering a clear-top tent for the reception. Inside, tables alternated between lush floral centerpieces and playful, modern arrangements set in flower frogs, complemented by soft candlelight. A white and tan checked dance floor added a touch of whimsy, while a floral meadow at the band stage, repurposed from the ceremony, brought the whole design full circle.

Why have a wedding night when you can have a wedding weekend?! Brittland Estate is located in the historic Chestertown area of Maryland's Eastern Shore. When you rent this venue, you get access to the Manor House, pool, and gardens for the entire weekend. Most couples host their rehearsal dinners here too and the house sleeps 30, so immediate family and the bridal parties can stay on site. It’s such a fun weekend getaway!

Chelsea and Ryan’s color palette was cream, peach, and toffee with subtle hints of blue to complement her gown and the bridesmaid’s pale blue dresses. I used peonies, toffee roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, tweedia, and light blue sweet peas from Two Boots farm in her bouquet. Her bridesmaids carried petite bouquets in the same flowers and colors. Chelsea’s keywords to describe her wedding were: romantic, natural, effortless, timeless, with no boho (same girl, same).

The ceremony was under a tree which we draped in silk fabric and green garland. Then we placed ground arrangements at the ends of the aisle to welcome the guests to the space.

Cocktail hour was poolside with whimsical bud vases on hightops. Next was the tented reception. We added a floral accent to the tent entry and alternated floral compote centerpieces with candles and bud vases. With fun floral moments on the bar, welcome sign, and dessert table. If you look close enough, you may be able to see some blueberry foliage with berries still on the vine. A fun twist on a pop of blue.

This wedding featured one of my all-time favorite cakes from Peony and Meringue. I gave them a selection of fresh blooms and they created the most stunning cake topper. Swoon! We soon learned that we both live in the same town and have collaborated on many weddings and projects since. You will not be remiss with this dream team!
