Tented Backyard Wedding Overlooking the Chesapeake Bay

Whitney and Franz tied the knot at their family home overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. It was a warm summer day with a relaxed and intimate feel. I always ask couples to describe their ideal wedding vibe in three words. Theirs were: fun, laid-back and intimate. Which I think we accomplished!

We choose blooms in white with pops of soft orange and pink to compliment her sleek silk gown and mix-matched bridesmaid dresses. I sourced garden roses from Grace Rose Farm and foxglove, peonies, ranunculus, larkspur, and raspberry foliage from local flower farms including Hillen Homestead and Joy In Hand.

The ceremony took place in the backyard by the pool. We originally discussed urn arrangements for the decor, but when I saw photos of the space, I asked if we could switch to a sprawling installation on the fence and Whitney was game! We used branches, coral charm peonies, roses, larkspur, and raspberry foliage to create an overgrown garden feel on the fence and then carried the theme through with smaller arrangements lining the aisle and around the pool.

The reception was tented featuring long wooden tables with runners. We alternated lush compote arrangements with whimsical bud vases and flower frog arrangements. Then we complimented those with romantic taper, pillar, and votive candles. An elevated dinner party at your home, what could be more romantic? Then they danced the night away by the pool.

We planned this wedding in under five months! When Whitney inquired she already had Megan Harris Photography on board, one of my all-time favorites, and LynnAaron from Nouvelle Planning so I already knew this would be a stunning and well-organized wedding. Whitney gave us so much creative freedom (thank you!) and I think the results really speak for themselves.
